Dogfish Head Festina Peche

Dogfish Head Festina Peche

Dogfish Head Festina Peche

I’ll preface this post by saying that I am not a big fan of Dogfish Head beer. Occasionally, they’ll release a specialty beer that I enjoy but for the most part, I’m not a fan. With that said, I attended a great local 4th of July event where Festina Peche was being served. It was literally about 100 degrees with the sun beating down and while a chewy beer would have been delicious, I just wanted something refreshing. So I opted for Festina Peche.

While I was ready to “get my drink on”, it was so hot I wasn’t hoping for much and at 4.5ABV, this light tasty brew was just what I needed. It was served in a bottle (in my USA TODAY beer koozie because it was the only thing keeping it cold), so I couldn’t get a good feel for the color or head. But, the taste reflected tangy peach overtones in a not-too-malty beverage. It was really crisp, clean and super drinkable. And not too fruity.

It’s definitely not one of my “go-to” beers, but a great choice for a special event on a hot summer day.
